Today’s post is part 1 of a 3-4 part-er and comes via request from one of my Long Island belly dance students: belly dance show etiquette. Recently my group belly dance class participated in their very first show together. For some of them this was their first belly dance performance ever. Prior to the show I sent out a list of reminders and behavior notes. One of them loved it so much she asked me to share it on my blog. I figured I should do it now or I might never get to it! (One of my 2018 goals is to be better about posting). While I was figuring out how to approach this topic, I witnessed some other behaviors that really “grind my gears” (to quote Peter Griffin) and helped shaped the direction. I have touched on this topic lightly before but let's take a closer look.
