Fitness Find with Long Island Belly Dancer Kirah

So you may be wondering what these strange objects Long Island belly dancer Kirah is presenting you with. They definitely look odd…especially the spikey one. These strange objects are my new personal favorite toy and savior…therapy massage balls. I want a pair everywhere with me at all times. What can I say? I am in love and my body is too....

I am constantly having issues with tight muscles that to my shame are not getting the stretch and care they deserve. Many people have suggested a foam roller to me. I tried this with a cheap foam one and ended up squishing it to no use. I keep meaning to buy a new higher quality one but I just have not gotten around to it. As wonderful as I believe they probably are, I am just not sure they are the right for me right now and in my space.

I came to discover these nifty little balls of wonder through happenstance and a co-worker. One of those chain situations where one tells another person who then tells another. He had it with him at work and decided to show them to me. It was awe and love at first sight. I knew I had to have them asap. They looked like the perfect solution to me and I ran out to the store to get them that night.

I really like them. The spikey one has quickly become my favorite. Juggling all that I do, I have lost a lot of my self care routine and for me these are the first step in regaining it. I find at least 3-5 minutes a day or every other day (Usually while tea is brewing) to use them to massage at bare minimum my feet and my neck. The massaging of the feet alone made them worth the buy.

The other day I had a really bad cramp in my calf. I took the regular ball in my hand and just gently massaged it against the cramp and it helped ease the tension. I also use the wall and massage out different parts of my legs, back and neck instead of trying to do it on the floor. Being so small and portable I cannot wait to bring them with me on belly dance travel.

Its not a cure all and doesn’t replace regular care but it has been a nice quick fix and better then nothing for me. I haven’t tried the best part of them: they can be made hot or cold too! (I will update on the facebook page when I try that) You can get them off Amazon or at Target if you are impatient like me for about $15. I love them and would recommend them (if you couldn’t tell).
