Kirah loves helping others grow and develop through movement and dance. She believes in small learning environments where you can gain individual attention, relax and have a good time, gain knowledge and skills in a safe way, and explore your own expression.

Class Schedule & Registration

Location:

  • All in person classes are held at:  Jan Martin Dance Studio, 27 Adams Ct, Plainview, NY

  • All classes are also offered virtually or via recording.

Good to Knows:

  • Dance Your Way​: All in person classes are also offered online in both livestream & recording formats! All students will get access to the recording.

  • Can't make every date?  Snag a discount on the dates you can make by pre-registering with the ala carte option.

  • Super Savings Option: Special topics classes are usually all levels friendly. Select the combo option to register for two classes back-to-back and get the largest discount.

  • All class sales are final sale, but are transferable to another student

  • All classes must have 4 students pre-registered to run

  • The Learning Hub option is an add on resource to full package registration students to support you learning & practice. The Hub includes:

    • special practice videos and recommendations each week

    • extended access to class recordings for 1 month after the session ends

Summer Session 1 (6 weeks)

Sundays: May 5, 12, 26 & June 9, 16, 23

11:00-11:55am (USA Eastern) - Foundations 2

New to bellydance? Learn the common movements used in belly dance. This session will focus on Foundations 2 movement vocabulary. Class will involve breakdowns, combinations, and games.

Have experience with bellydance? Focus on strengthening your technique, movement quality, movement size, and more.

12:00-1:25pm (USA Eastern) - Taqsims & Improv

This class session is a two for one. We will introduce what a taqsim is, common middle eastern instruments used, and practice dancing different taqsims. Additionally, each class we will work on skill building to demystify improv and help students feel confident when improv-ing.

 FAQs

  • Any one who is interesting in learning do dance and moving their body can come to class.

    We ask that you have a willingness to learn, try new things, and are respectful of yourself and your peers

  • No, many students join our classes with no formal dance experience. If you are new to dance or belly dance I recommend a Level I or Foundations class.

    If you have previous belly dance experience, I recommend any class available on the schedule.

    If you need help selecting a class, please contact Kirah directly.

  • Classes that are offered “live” are classes that happen in real time with students and an instructor. We offer the option to take real time classes either online from your own home or in person with the instructor. All live students will be interacted with, receive feedback, and get to ask questions regardless of format. Recordings are available to all Live students.

    On-demand courses are specifically designed for students to learn on their own schedule and timelines. These are pre-recorded and assessable at any time.

  • *Wear comfy clothes that you can move around in such as: leggings, yoga pants, t-shirts, tanks etc. A little form fitting is better than completely baggy but do what makes you comfortable and lets you move around.

    *I normally dance and teach barefoot. You are welcome to wear any footwear that you would like as long as they are dance shoes

    *Water!

    *Please test your internet connection / video set up prior to class

  • Sometimes life has other plans. If you should miss a class you will still get a copy of the recording to practice with that week.

  • Should there be a snow storm or weather that prevents travel, Kirah will send an email an hour to an hour and a half before class starts. Class will either:

    *Become virtual for everyone

    *Be moved to a make-up date

    Kirah will announce which option when she posts the cancelation.
